First train into Cedar City, June 10, 1923. David Bulloch, standing on the cow-catcher, was the first boy to enter Cedar City riding on the running gear in front of the first wagon when it entered Cedar Valley November 11, 1851. This work train containing Union Pacific officials who had been instrumental in bringing the spur from Lund to Cedar City, was pushed by the engine pictured here over loosely spiked track to the western extremity of the city. It was met by Mayor Parley Dalley and other City officials. The last track was laid June 14, 1923 five days later.
