Description |
Next morning we were up bright and early to greet the sun of Founders' Day. We marched to the bridge to met the townspeople, listened to a delightful program, then we dragged even the grand stand upon the field for contest. It now came November, time for election. Two parties were organized, platforms were written, rousing rallies were had on both sides and things were quite exciting, when Bill Oakden started up a party of his own. By his eloquence in oratory and his reasoning in argument he gathered a large support and put in four officers out of the five elected. Closely following the home rejoicings of Christmas, came the terrible ordeal of "Test Week" -- so aptly named -- our first frightful experience along that line. However, the majority of us pulled through , badly bent 'tis true, though not busted. Our representative in the inter-class cross country team was Heber Edwards, who led across the finish line for the entire field. |
