Parents who can do so are especially invited to come and live with their children at the school and partake of the same privilege of free rent offered to students. Children not of high school age may be provided for in the Beaver county school and enjoy the other special offer to town students of Free Transportation During the Months of Bad Weather. Cafeteria A Cafeteria is operated by the Domestic Science Department, in which a hot, appetizing noon luncheon is served to students at cost. The Murdock Community. Students living on the campus are well supervised. All faculty members live at the school, and in addition to the regular corps of teachers, a matron and a night watchman are employed as special supervisors and advisers. A set of campus rules is adopted for governing this Murdock Community, and as nearby a possible the amusements for the social unit are provided at the school. One Thousand Dollar Improvement Fund Raised by Students. During the school term of 1920-1921, the students and faculty of the Murdock Academy, through dramatics, entertainments and athletic contests, raised over $1,000 for school improvements. A Moving Picture machine was purchased to advance visual instruction in the school and to afford entertainment for those living on the campus. A phonograph was also secured to aid in instruction as well as recreation. The major portion of the fund was expended in campus improvement, which consisted of the following: The fencing of the campus, the felling of many of the trees surrounding the athletic field and planting in their stead ornamental hard wood trees; the planting of shrubs and lawn around the main building; and the placing in the center of the campus of a Pilgrim-Pioneer monument, erected in honor of the three hundredth anniversary of the Landing of the Pilgrims.
