GENERAL INFORMATION The aim of the Murdock Academy is to train for citizenship by preparing young people to found homes in which a coming generation may begin life under more favorable conditions and by training the rising generation for useful lives, appreciative of the beautiful, striking a proper attitude-which is indeed one's religion-toward their surroundings. To this end training is offered in all the ordinary branches of high school and business instruction and in the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A SCHOOLING AT HALF PRICE The Murdock Academy is unique in that it has housing facilities for hundreds of students right on the campus. The school was originally Fort Cameron. When it was abandoned by the soldiers the new owners of the land turned over the property, with its numerous buildings, to the Church to be used for a school. All of the buildings are of stone construction and are in excellent condition. To the original Fort buildings has been added a large and imposing main building. It is the belief of those at the head of the school, that the Murdock Academy should serve a greater purpose than to supply an education for the students of Beaver, that students living in towns where no High School is maintained should be given the opportunity of attending an institution where they may live at the school and have their living expenses cut in half. With this purpose in view the school is offering a great special inducement to students from outside towns, viz: Free Rent of One Hundred Furnished Rooms. This same offer was made last year, with the result that students' expenses were reduced to the minimum, the average expenditure per student being about $100. The students keep house for themselves and bring provisions from home. Owing to the inconvenience of transporting bulky furniture from any great distance, the people of Beaver were called upon to contribute and they responded with a liberal supply of stoves, tables, beds, etc., for furnishing the rooms.
