The families who settled along the Muddy Creek eventually needed more land in which to build a community. They planned to move the town a few miles to the south. First they had to divert water from Muddy Creek to the new townsite. It took them about 3 years to dig the canal. This photograph came from Venice Burr Jensen's photo album.
