Pantry shelves filled with food was an unusual sight during the Depression. In cities all across America people stood in bread lines hoping to get a bite to eat. In Emery County people raised their own beef and produce and fared better than those in the cities, but no home had shelves that looked like these shown here in a pantry of a CCC Camp in Emery County. The young men were fed three good meals a day including dessert. The average weight gain was 12 lbs the first month in the CCC camps.
