Marion Wheeler mined at Temple Mountain during the Uranium Boom in 1955. This photograph is from his collection and reads, "Gill and Isabelle at Temple Mountain." Gill and Isabelle are in many of his photographs. Here they are sitting on a drill core from a uranium mine shaft. They drilled these 3' cores to create the calex hole which was the vertical shaft which provided air to the horizontal tunnels below where they were mining. The calex hole was also the way miners entered and exited the mine.
