L.T. Hunter, pharmacist in Castle Dale and owner of Hunter Drug was the assayer of the area. Owen McClennahan wrote how he got interested in uranium mining: "L.T. Hunter in Castle Dale called me into his office to show me how one rock would sound like an angry rattlesnake and another rock was silent with only an intermittent click. He told me uranium was found in places where dinosaur bones were found. I was hooked because I knew where tons of dinosaur bones were. This was the beginning of a great friendship. I took tons of rock into his little office a paper bag at a time." L.T. Hunter and Owen McClennahan became partners in a uranium mining business.
