Mar Grange took this photograph of the old uranium ore bin high up on a rocky slope (the dark spot in the middle of the photograph.) Owen McClenahan recorded that some men came to him with a hot piece of ore, but they couldn't remember where they got it. They asked him if he could go with them, taking his Geiger counter and help them find the source. He wrote, "And find it I did." They were so happy they put my name on the claims. We mined five tons of ore, slid 200 pounds at a time down a rocky slope in a tin bathtub to the place where we loaded it into a truck. Now that doesn't sound like much, but we didn't ever want to try it again. We leased the claims to a company from Washington state. They built a road and a loading bin, but by the second day, they hit the end of the vein. To this day there stands a 75 ton ore bin that had only 15 tons of ore go through its doors."
