The 1927 Legislature appropriated $30,000 for a new gymnasium at the BAC. This amount would not, of course, erect a structure that would in anyway meet the needs of the institution. Plans for a $60,000 structure were approved and the building was to be erected as far as possible. Prominent citizens of Southern Utah, seeing the dire need for the building, offered to underwrite the necessary amount, and prominent members of the state government lent to the move. Their support make it possible, with the aid of the Alumni's gift of $6,000 to complete the gymnasium. The new gymnasium was dedicated on the BAC Founders' Day, November 16, 1928.
