of the property for t h e City Hall. On motion of Councilman Simpkins t h a t t h e City Hall be built on t h e southwest corner of Liberty P a r k . Carried. On motion of Councilman Schoppman t h a t t h e Recorder be i n s t r u c t e d t o post u p notices calling for bids f o r quarrying rock for t h e proposed City HaU. Said rock t o he quarried by t h e first of J a n u a r y . Payment to be made a s follows: 113 cash and 213 City Script, to be paid by t h e first of May. 1888. All bidders required to s t a t e in their bids where they intend q u a r r y i n g the rock. Bids to be received by t h e City Recorder until t h e 4th of November. Carried. Nov. 1 2 . 1887.. .On motion t h a t t h e bill of $167.50 be allowed to the masons for building the cemetery wall (full amount), and the Auditor i n s t r u c t e d accordingly. Carried. On motion of Councilman Simkins t h a t t h e Judiciary Committee be instructed to draft a bill for an ordinance authorizing t h e Mayor to execute a lease of a room and cell in t h e contemplated City Hall t o Iron County. Carried. The Judiciary Committee then presented a bill for an ordinance in relation to t h e lease of a room and cell in t h e proposed City Hall. Carried. Jan. 27. I888 ... City Council met in the school house at 3:30 p.m.--Justice of the Peace. N . W . P r y o r , a n d T r e a s u r e r . Henry Leigh, in attendance. Justice of Peace P r y o r gave his report for the y e a r . An ordinance was passed in relation t o sidewalks, s t r e e t s , a n d ditches. The Mayor s t a t e d t h a t t h e Justice of Peace docket book was filled u p , a n d t h e Recorder was instructed to furnish him with a new one. The Justice of Peace presented a bill of $4.10 for fees f o r himself a n d Constable in Margret Heyborne case. Bill allowed.
; p.m. Mayor Jan. 30, 1888.. .Met in school house a t 4 brought up t h e matter of t h e City Hall, stating t h a t i t was considered too small. Motion of Councilman P e r r y t h a t t h e City H a l l be built 40 feet from t h e fence each way. Motion of Councilman Simkins t h a t the outside dimensions of City Hall be 35 feet by 28 feet. Carried.
Jan. 30, 1888.. . T h e Mayor brought u p t h e matter of the rock for City Hall. Bid of Evan Williams a n d Thomas Bladen f o r 150 perch of good r o c k , 50 p e r c h to have one good face, f o r 65$ per perch--126 feet of plank t o d r e s s 10 inches t h i c k . and 448 feet of flagging for 10Q p e r s q u a r e foot. The Mayor presented his resignation a s Mayor of Cedar City. (Mayor Jones being called on an L . D . S . Mission beginning Feb. 3 , 1888) On motion of Councilman Thorley t h a t we accept t h e said resignation of Mayor of Cedar City a n d tender him a note of thanks for service r e n d e r e d .
