Nov. 28, 1884.. .Bill of C. C. Bladen for 1 year's services a s City Marshal, amounting to $15, was presented a n d , on motion of Councilman Heybornc, r e f e r r e d back t o t h e Marshal for itemized account of statement before the Council of t h e amount of services rendered. William Walker. Supervisor, presented an itemized bill of 586.97 for labor performed on s t r e e t s , crossings, bridges a n d ditches. Bill was accepted. Dec. 1 6 , 1884.. .The Mayor announced the office of City Marshal vacant, owing to Samuel T . Leigh, Marshal elect, failing t o qualify. Motion b y Councilman Thorley that we appoint Ed P a r r y City Marshal, in and for Cedar City for t h e time prescribed by ordinance, and t h a t the Recorder issue certificate of appointment and deliver the same tomorrow. Carried unanimously. Dec. 1 9 . 1884.. .Motion by Councilman Jones t h a t t h e Water Tax on city lots for 1884 be 45 i b s . grain for each lot and 30 lbs. grain for each non-resident lot. Carried. The Mayor represented that lron County had failed t o comply with t h e conditions and considerations on which certain lands, belonging to the City, had been deeded for t h e erection of t h e lron Works. Matter was r e f e r r e d to t h e Committee on Public Grounds and City Property. Feb. 2 , 1885.. .The attention of the Council was called t o an uncovered cellar near the B. Shop on Main Street a s being dangerous to t h e traveling public. Motion by Councilman Heyborne that the Marshal either cover securely o r fill said cellar within t e n d a y s , a t t h e expense of the owners. Passed. March 7 , 1885.. .The Mayor called the attention of t h e Council to that fact of a billiard o r pool table being kept within the corporate limits of this City, and recommended t h a t a n ordinance, in relation t h e r e t o , be drafted immediately. The matter was r e f e r r e d to the Committee on Judiciary. Petition of G . E . P e r r y and five others asking the Council to open what is generally known a s 'Dry S t r e e t ' , running south from Water Street to South S t r e e t , was presented and r e f e r r e d to Committee on S t r e e t s and Sidewalks. March 9, 1885.. .Ordinance in relation t o pool tables was r e a d . Motion by Councilman Corry t h a t $25 p e r q u a r t e r be the amount for a license for one table. Carried. Motion by Councilman Leigh t h a t $15 per q u a r t e r be the amount of license for each additional table. Carried. April 7, 1885.. .On motion of Councilman Leigh, t h e Recorder was allowed 10 per cent for collecting City Water for 1884. Lehi W. Jones was unanimously appointed City Watermaster for the present y e a r .
