Nov. 7. 1878.. . T h e Committee on Judiciary reported a s follows: W have obtained and examined from t h e exe Recorder's office, two record hooks, one City warrant book, one auditor's a / c book, one dog tax hook, one assessor tax list for 1878, one old ordinance book, one old record book, one ordinance book for p r e s e n t use. 22 s h e e t s of writing p a p e r , 134 documents of various kinds, 1 City roll book, 1 City warrant in favor of G . Heyborne premises ( f i r e ) 1.50 $25.00 Total Councilor George P e r r y protested against the Council allowing bills for moving nuisances, a s h e considered i t the duty of those who created the nuisances t o see that they were removed, and if they did not comply with the requirement of the Marshal in that r e s p e c t , said nuisances should he removed a t their expense. On motion of Councilman George P e r r y , the Marshal's bill be allowed, excepting $2.50 charged by G . Cosslett, which be reduced to $1.50 for moving nuisance from 'Slanting Ditch'. Motion defeated. Councilman Leigh motioned t h a t the Marshal receive $2 instead of $2.50 for above. Motion carried. Nov. 14, 1879.. .Mayor asked f u r t h e r time t o complete s u r v e y of land purchased from Homer Duncan in consequence of the inclement s t a t e of t h e weather. In reference to a petition of Joseph Melling. Council was to i n s t r u c t the City Supervisor to remove t h e present box located in t h e water ditch near the residence of Joseph Melling which caused him inconvenience in getting admittance to his premises. Dec. 1 , 1879.. .Mayor A r t h u r recommended appropriation to County Supervisor to assist in defraying expense of opening the Main Street on t h e north side of City and filling up certain excavations on same, causing said s t r e e t to be almost impassable. Passed over by Council. City Watermaster, Andrus Jenson, tendered his resignation in said position and asked t h e Council to release him, which was not acted upon b y the Council.
