April 30, 1878.. .The committee selected t o establish the City boundary line moved the line to what they considered t h e 'mouth of the canyon.' They recommended establishing a point to commence a t 10 rods south of SE corner of NEI of the NEI Section 1 4 , Township 36 South of R11W. SLB meridian. They p u t this in the c h a r t e r and ordinances. Resignation of Homer Duncan was read and not accepted. on the grounds s e t forth in his petition being insufficient reason. (Homer Duncan did not attend any f u t u r e meetings) Protest of L. R. Chaffin and Homer Duncan against t h e removal of the stake designating the corporate limits of Cedar City, as we do verily believe i t will i n t e r f e r e with o u r prlvate interests. Protest overruled. May 23, 1878.. .Mayor was instructed to give Commissioner Williamson of t h e General Land Office by affidavits and otherwise required by him, whereby the City of Cedar may obtain t h e full privilege and r i g h t s belonging to cities and towns in t h e U.S. in accordance with Section 2389 of t h e revised Statutes of the United States of America. June 2 6 , 1878.. . T h e City Council appointed a committee f o r arrangements for the 4th of J u l y , on motion, and Councilor Leigh, Marshal P a r r y . Lehi Jones, John P a r r y J r . , a n d Louis Root were appointed. Money was appropriated to William H. Dame, County Recorder, for recording townsite p a t e n t s . Recorder, Louis Fischer, was instructed to post t h r e e notices that a caucus meeting will be held in t h e schoolhouse at 3 o'clock, July 24, 1878, for the purpose of nominating City A bill for a n ordinance officers for the August election. providing for t h e registration of votes and to f u r t h e r regulate the manner of conducting elections was r e a d . Passed. July 27. 1878. . .Jesse N . Smith was paid $1.50 for the register list of legal voters a n d $3.35 for telegraphing Salt Lake for a ballot box. John W . Carpenter was paid $2 f o r printing 150 tickets for t h e coming election. August 14, 1878.. . I t was agreed t h a t the warrants (owed b y the City) be drawn 4 f o r grain and i f o r sheep stock for the amounts shown August 12 and 1 4 , except where specified "cash. "
