ROBERT H. LINFORD Biography 1923 Robert Henry Linford was born July 1, 1923, in Panguitch, Utah, t h e youngest son of seven children born to Joseph Henry a n d Luella R. Orton Linford. Being reared in Panguitch a n d attending schools t h e r e , Robert participated in athletics a n d was Studentbody President a year in High School. He came t o Cedar City a f t e r graduation a n d attended Branch Agricultural College for one year on a scholarship. r e t u r n i n g to help his f a t h e r in the family business. Robert married Helen Seaman on August 2 6 , 1943, a n d t h r e e children were born to this marriage--Lois Roene. Babette, and Byron Robert. In addition, t h e y have h a d several foster children live with them including t h r e e nieces. one nephew, a n d four Navajo Indian c i r l s on the L.D.S. la cement Program. In 1943, during World War 11, Robert s e r v e d in t h e U.S. Air Force a s an ~ e G a EngineerIGunner. After discharge, he l moved to Cedar City t o work foe Jones Motor Company a n d l a t e r . Cedar Motor Company. I n 1950 h e was recalled into t h e Air Force during the Korean War. He was discharged in a year a n d joined Bradshaw Chevrolet sales s t a f f a n d h a s remained with t h e Company to t h e p r e s e n t . In 1974 Robert a n d his son-in-law, Wayne Clark, bought Mullett Jewelry S t o r e , presently Clark 6 Linford Jewelers, a s a family venture. Robert h a s held many c h u r c h positions in the L.D. S. C h u r c h , among which a r e Bishop of t h e 7th Ward a n d Counselor in t h e Cedar West Stake Presidency. Civic affairs have been an active p a r t of his life a n d he has s e r v e d a s Mayor of Cedar City since 1982. Some of t h e organizations a n d committees he h a s s e r v e d on a r e a s follows: Governor's t h r e e year appointment t o t h e Governor's Advisory Council. on Intergovernmental Affairs; Board of Directors, Utah League of Cities a n d Towns; four y e a r s on the Five County Association of Governments s t e e r i n g committee Board; Board of Directors. Cedar City Chamber of Commerce; Board of Directors, Zion's National Park Historical Society; Member of Advisory Board. Special Events Center. S . U . S. C . ; and many other positions. Local awards given to Robert Linford include t h e following: 1980 recipient of t h e Cedar Breaks District "Award of Merit", Boy Scouts of America; 1981 recipient, Boy Scouts "Silver Beaver" Award; 29 continuous y e a r s service with Boy Scouts; 8 y e a r s . a s Chairman Cedar Breaks District, Boy Scouts of America; 13 years a s Century Club Contributor; a n d recipient of t h e L.D. S. Church's Honorable Master M-Men Award for service to youth. He a n d his wife, Helen, gave many y e a r s of service a s M.I.A. Dance Directors in t h e Ward, Region a n d Stake in the' L . D .
