Sept. 20, 1979.. . T h e Mayor informed t h e Council on. updated information concerning Kolob Water, a f t e r attending a Water Resources Board meeting. He a s s u r e d the Council t h a t all misunderstandings concerning the 215 water s h a r e for Cedar City had been cleared u p . Oct. 18, 1979 ...Mr. Angelo Gasper appeared before the Council to inform them of f u t u r e plans to b r i n g a K-Mart Store into Cedar City. Ten a c r e s have been s e t aside on the southeast e n d of town for t h i s development. Nov. 1 , 1979.. .City Engineer, Matt Bulloch, informed t h e Council on drilling of a deep water well in Cedar Canyon a n d a proposal from Superior Drilling Company was p r e s e n t e d . Motion made to s t a r t drilling immediately. Carried. Councilman Larson made t h e motion to withdraw membership from Southwest Utah Power Federation a n d the Power Agency in o r d e r to display s u p p o r t to Utah Power a n d Light. Councilwoman S t a r r voted against. Carried. J a n . 3. 1980.. . P r e s e n t : Mayor Jack Sawyers. City Manager John Hendrickson, Council Members--Harold Hiskey, Jack C a r t e r , Lee Fife, Harold Shirley a n d Barbara S t a r r . Mr. Dixie Leavitt , Chairman of the Re-Development Committee, appeared before t h e Council to present the concept of a Special Events Center and renovating a r e a s of the City. Mayor reminded t h e Council t h a t notice h a d been given t h a t the City Offices would have to be moved from the School Building a t Center and 300 West. Search for new facilities has begun. J a n . 17, 1980 ... The Mayor informed t h e Council t h a t a vote from t h e citizens was necessary a t t h i s time in o r d e r to decide whether to s u p p o r t Municipal Power o r Utah Power a n d Light. Councilwoman S t a r r motioned t h a t t h e Council go on record a s being against t h e sale of C . P . National to Utah Power a n d Light because the Feasibility Study recommended Municipal Power. Motion died because of lack of second. Councilman Hiskey motioned to place a public opinion vote to
