July 8 , 1976.. .At the request of t h e Union Pacific Railroad Company, with t h e approval of the Cedar City Fire Chief, t h e B-17 Fire Bomber dropped fire r e t a r d a n t in the c e n t e r of t h e burning Union pacific Warehouse fire on 100 West a n d 250 North. It developed t h a t the pilot of t h e airplane violated certain F. A . A . Regulations pertaining to congested a r e a s ; a n d , because of t h i s , may be subject to disciplinary action. Councilman Slack made a motion t h a t t h e Mayor be authorized to write to t h e F.A.A. and a s k t h a t they ignore the violation, in a s much a s t h e pilot provided a needed a n d absolutely necessary service. Aug. 1 2 . 1976.. . T h e Council authorized the City Attorney to write a resolution in reference to Dixie Leavitt r u n n i n g for Governor of t h e State. Sept 2 . 1976 ...M r . Reed Embley appeared before the Council to propose a franchise be established for a n ambulance service in Cedar City. Tahled. Me1 Whitehead. resident of 250 North and 200 East. h a s created a semi-nuisance by parking a n d storing some fifteen motor vehicles on his l o t , a n d complaints have been made. City Attorney to research t h e ordinance pertaining to this. S e p t . 16, 1976.. .City received a l e t t e r from t h e U.S. Soil Conservation Service denying the City's request to remove t h e flood water retardation s t r u c t u r e No. 1 , for subdivision development. This is p a r t of t h e Green's Lake watershed flood project. Sept 30. 1976.. .Project Engineer. R . B . Plait, reported t h a t backflushing a n d cleaning of all effluent lines has been completed, a n d t h a t the new Sewer Treatment Plant will h e ready for operation Oqtober 15. Oct. 7, 1976.. . J u d g e Christian Ronnow, City Court J u d g e . p r e s e n t e d a l e t t e r to t h e City Attorney concerning d r u g offenses committed within the City limits. He was of the opinion t h a t t h e s e offenses should go t h r o u g h t h e City Court.
