Nov. 3 , 1960.. .Mayor read resolution: Whereas ground transportation of p a s s e n g e r s arriving a t , o r departing from Airport, is an essential service to air t r a v e l e r s , City should make facilities available for a c a r rental agency. Nov. 2 2 , 1960.. .Walter Lowe requested financial assistance on t h e Hotel El Escalante with payroll etc. City Attorney Fenton gave a l e t t e r to each Councilman s t a t i n g in p a r t : "I fail to find any a u t h o r i t y , whatsoever, to subsidize o r a s s i s t in t h e operation of t h e Hotel. I strongly advise the City to entirely refrain from putting a n y money into i t s operation." No action taken. J a n . 5 , 1961.. .After considerable discussion of t h e location of the new a i r p o r t h a n g e r , i t was decided, upon motion of Eldon Schmutz, t h a t due to t h e excessive cost involved in moving t o another location, t h e hanger be p u t on the foundation already laid. Mr. Platt was to be given written instructions to s t o p work on the new foundation. J a n . 8 , 1961...Airport Committee p r e s e n t e d a l e t t e r s t a t i n g they were unanimously opposed to the decision of t h e Council made on J a n u a r y 5 . The new h a n g e r should be placed just n o r t h of t h e small h a n g e r , in place of t h e b u r n e d h a n g e r . Motion b y Councilman Petty t h a t motion of J a n u a r y 5 be rescinded a n d we call contractors and have them pour new footings a n d e r e c t t h e ' T ' Hanger n o r t h of t h e small hanger on t h e site of the b u r n e d down h a n g e r . Carried. J a n . 19, 1961.. .Clement Adams. City Engineer, read the water r e p o r t a n d discussed t h e s t r e e t oiling program a n d the s t r e e t numbering system. About 100 new pipe p o s t s , 300 s i g n s . a n d 600 sign plates will be needed. Motion by Councilman Heaton to adopt t h e s t r e e t numbering system. Unanimous. Bid for new Police Car ( T r a d e in p r i c e ] : Thorley Motor--Ford. 5800: Jones Motor--Plymouth, $826; Utah Rambler--Ambassador, 5748; Bradshaw Chevrolet--Chevrolet, $837; a n d Lunt Motor--Dodge, 5799. Mayor Anderson recommended t h a t all bids be rejected and we keep the Police Car we have. City Planning Committee calls attention to t h e fact t h a t t h e City Zoning Ordinances do no provide f o r t h e erection of a hospital in the A-1 Residential District where t h e proposed new Iron County Hospital is to be built.
