J a n . 6, 1938.. .Council had u n d e r consideration whether the American Legion a n d National Guard were subject to license when they sold tickets to t h e public for dances, f i g h t s , etc. Attorney Durham Morris ruled t h a t t h e American Legion a n d National Guard a r e subject to City license laws t h e same a s any other organization. The matter of Isaac W . P a r r y owning t h e land on which o u r City Reservoirs have been built was discussed. Mr. P a r r y offers to sell the 40 a c r e s on which they a r e built f o r $125. On motion of Councilman Bergstrom, t h e matter was r e f e r r e d to the Committee on Water System. Council discussed the matter of abandoning the water main on Main S t r e e t and taking the water down the middle of Block 36 a n d Block 37. Leaks may occur in the main a n d not be known for a long time after the leak s t a r t e d , doing much damage to t h e pavement and private p r o p e r t y . Committee appointed from the Council a n d p r o p e r t y owners to s e c u r e a n easement o r right-of-way for pipe lines t h r o u g h these blocks. J a n . 20, 1938.. .Mayor H. H. Lunt appointed the following: Office Manager--Herbert P. Haight ( $ 7 5 p e r month], City Marshal and Chief--Rueben J . Shay, Health Officer--Dr. A . L. Graff, Sanitry Officer--Dr. A . C. Johnson, Street Superintendent--Charles M . Mosdell. Watermaster--Thomas D . Little, Justice of t h e Peace--Glen Froyd. Night Marshal-Alonzo Ahlstrom, a n d Traffic Officer--Preston Wood ($106.25 p e r month a n d $15 p e r month for c a r a n d uniform1 Feb. 3 . 1938.. .Council discussed s t a r t i n g work on t h e W.P.A. Project of enlarging t h e City Cemetery, 4f foot rock wall, a n d leveling five a c r e s of ground. March 3. 1938.. .Council discussed the matter of condemning the old 'Wood Building' on t h e corner of Main a n d First North Street (Lincoln Avenue and Main), a s i t is a menace to t h e City, being a hideout for d r u n k s a n d p e t t y criminals, besides being old and unsightly. Mayor Lunt reported t h a t the U . S . Government had s e r v e d notice t h a t i t was t u r n i n g back t h e Municipal Airport to the City. March 8 , 1938.. .Councilman Jones b r o u g h t u p t h e matter of building a new jail a n d suggested t h a t t h e City make a W.P.A. Project out of i t . April 2 1 . 1938.. .Mr. Millard Watson h a d contacted members of the Council and asked t h a t something be done to furnish him water for his b a r b e r shop in the Wood's Toggery Building. Mr. Watson reported t h a t he h a d paid his bill, but the Watermaster was not allowed to t u r n water on t h e premises until all back bills h a d been paid, and Mr. Wood still owes a balance of $25, which s t a n d s in the way of his getting water
