to assist in the erection of a memorial in t h e City P a r k in honor of t h e soldiers taking p a r t in t h e World War. They s t a t e t h a t the memorial will cost about $3000, a n d t h e y would he willing t o receive t h e City's portion in annual payments. Council was in favor of assisting t h e erection of t h e memorial a n d a r e willing t o make t h e f i r s t y e a r ' s payment. Aug. 18, 1927.. . M r . A. D . Rollo reported t h a t water from t h e septic tank is r u n n i n g in the Field Water and is being unconsciously u s e d b y tourists a n d farmers for drinking a n d culinary p u r p o s e s . On motion of Councilman L u n t , t h e Mayor and Health Officer, Dr. Bergstrom, were advised t o wait upon County Attorney R. J . Shay a n d see what can be done about t h e water of t h e fields being polluted with t h e water from t h e septic t a n k , inasmuch a s t h e City h a s leased t h e waste water from the septic tank to the North Field Irrigation Co. S e p t . 1, 1927.. . T h e matter of reimbursing Mrs. Joseph Rosenburg for water coming into t h e City from s p r i n g s in t h e mountain was tabled. Council was satisfied t h a t payment for s p r i n g s was made a t t h e time the City received t h e deed to the s p r i n g s from Mr. a n d Mrs. Joseph Rosenburg. Mayor b r o u g h t to the attention of t h e Council t h e matter of the American S t a r Legion deciding what names t o be inserted on t h e proposed monument t o t h e boys of this community who participated a n d were active in t h e late War. He stated t h a t t h e American S t a r Legion has had a number of applications from members who were not called from Cedar City, but a t p r e s e n t a r e residents of Cedar a n d would like their names upon t h e tablet with the names of t h e boys being honored on t h e monument. The Legion h a d finally decided t h a t t h e names on t h e monument should be onlv those called from h e r e . Council took up t h e matter of revising salaries. Salaries of City Justice a n d City Attorney were made to read: City Justice--$250 p e r y e a r a n d City Attorney--$400 p e r y e a r , which is the salary being received b y the p r e s e n t incumbents. Sept. 2, 1927.. .Mayor Christensen submitted his own name t o the Council for City Manager, to fill t h e new office created by t h e ordinance passed by t h e Council August 2 4 , 1927. Appointed to hold office until June 30, 1928. After some deliberation a n d consideration, the committee representing the owners of Coal Creek voiced t h e approval of Cedar City taking out h e r irrigation water from Cluff Springs a n d conveying i t to the City through p i p e s , and also s t a t e d that they will not p r o t e s t against the change of diversion of i t s irrigation water, a n d will allow t h e City t o take a s much of t h e waters of Cluff Springs a s t h e City owns for irrigation.
