On motion of Councilman Houchen, the foregoing candidates receiving a majority of the votes duly and legally cast as appear of record before this body he duly declared elected to the respective offices for which they were voted for. Carried. Nov. 2 1 , 1903 ...Mayor announced that M r . B. F. Knell, proprietor of the City Drug Co. Store, was present in accordance with the desire expressed by some members of the Council at last session when considering the prohibition ordinance. M r . Knell, being tendered the favor to address the Council, stated that he was aware of the effort of the Council to prohibit the sale of liquor in this City and had understood the main obstacle was the fact of his liquor license running until Jan. 8 . 1904. He reported having about $500 worth of liquors on hand at the present time, hut had concluded, after witnessing the expressed will of the citizens of Cedar City recently, to close out his liquor business provided he may he permitted to r u n said business until the first of the year 1904 and provided f u r t h e r that the City Council refund him the amount of his unexpired license proratio in amount with that he had paid the Council for the same. After making the above proposition M r . Knell took his departure.
