Wright--City Sexton, Dogtax Collector, and Scavenger: M. H. Dalley--Surveyor; George W . Middleton--Quarantine Physician; J. R. Chaffin-Poundkeeper. Feb. 3 . 1896 ...5. H . McDonald asked that a detective be appointed to protect him in his liquor business. Surveyor Dalley made a statement in r e g a r d t o the City Cemetery-stated there was a variance between the old and new survey and that he could not plot t h e same u n d e r t h e old s u r v e y . Instructed to make a separate plat. Petition of Cedar Opera House Co. for a year license was not granted. On recommendation of Mayor L u n t , Daniel Leigh was appointed Prosecuting Attorney. March 2, 1896.. .On account of a railroad meeting being held in the Tabernacle, i t was deemed advisable to adjourn. March 3. 1896.. . R . W . Heyborne, in behalf of t h e committee appointed b y a mass meeting of the citizens of Cedar, petitioned t h e Council for a right-of-way and depot ground for railroad purposes. [Note 1875 map) April 6 , 1896.. .Motion of Councilman Jones, the Committee on Public Grounds and City Property was i n s t r u c t e d t o take steps immediately to open two s t r e e t s t h r o u g h t h e block from Main to 1 s t West Street. Justice Heyborne tendered his ,resignation a s City Justice. On motion Councilman Palmer, the resignation was accepted and J e t h r o Palmer appointed to fill t h e vacancy. provided he would accept. Mayor Lunt s t a t e d t h e April 13, 1896. . .Special meeting. object of the meeting was to take into consideration t h e necessity of putting in water works. Referred to Committee. April 21, 1896.. .George P e r r y protested against t h e way the water was being r u n t h r o u g h t h e City and asked for r e d r e s s . The Council asked for a written petition. April 2 2 , 1896.. .On motion Councilman Jones, t h e Recorder was instructed to send an outline of t h e City Plat to David James of Salt Lake asking for an estimate of the cost of waterworks, also to Attorney T . S. Richard for legal advice relative to the matter of a water system. Marshal Parry presented his written resignation. Accepted. The question of enforcing the curfew law was brought u p .
