Shortly after 1900, the citizens of Cedar City began holding a series of town meetings to discuss what could be done with respect to getting electric power for their homes.' At a meeting held in the ward tabernacle Jan. 2, 1906, a provisionary Board of directors was elected to serve until the first general election which was to he held on the first hionGay in Feb., one month later. The following men were duly elected as officers of said board: George W. Decker Lehi W. Jones Joshua H. Arthur President Vice President Secretary Directors Evan E. Williams Myron D. Higbee Peter B. Fife G John J. , Wehster Edward Parry A franchise from the City Council was obtained and Capital Stock subscriptions were sold for the new Cedar City Light and Power Co.
