              T h e work on the State House progressed so rapidly that the walls were completed by December. However, it wasn't until Dec. 1855, three years lxter, that the I~uildiug was completed, at a cost of $32,000. 'I'he p(1rtion that \vas finished was over 41 feet wide and nearly 61 feet long. There had hccrl intention of l~uilding another wing, hut this never materialized, as the edifice was used for only one session of the le~islaturc - the fifth - which convened 1)cc. 10, 1855 arid adjourned Jan. 18, 1856.
