He was well wrapped for it was early and very cold; he asked if Brother Durfee was in. 1 answered, 'He is in the vailey trying to get or earn some flour.' 1 insisted on him coming in but he said, 'No, dear sister, 1 have come with a message fiom the Lord to him @hfee]. Why, bless your heart, 1 had no idea of the hunger and suffering you have endured, until the Lord showed it al1 to me last night, and 1 have walked the floor, waiting for daylight, that 1 might come and deliver the blessing the Lord promised you. Te11 Brother Durfee that the Lord is pleased with him in the way he has shared his scanty portion with others. Get in a good lot of seed, plant every foot of land he can, every hill of com, squash, potatoes and beans he can, for the Lord is going to give him a bounteous harvest. Help him al1 you can, and 1bring you the promise that you shall never suffer for food, neither you nor your animals, in the future, as you have in the past; and you shall be able to pay al1 obligations.' As soon as my husband came 1told him and did al1 1 could to help plant the seeds and rejoice in the blessing, and [we] had faith it would be fulfilled.13 According to Durfee: "While working 1 was successful in earning wheat and took it to the mil1 and went home rejoicing with flour for my f d y . When 1 reached home and heard of the blessing promised, 1 did as 1 was bid." He wote: June 28, 1894, came the first showing of rain and the crops were growing good. When the plow ran down the rows of potatoes the ground was nearly covered with large white potatoes, our crop being over four hundred bushels, and we sold them al1 for 4 cents a pound,
