A baby girl was born to Henry and Ann Gower Lunt on March 3, 1868, i Cedar City. This baby was Ann's third child; they named n her Roselia Gower Lunt. The following Relief Society minutes, dated June 4, 1868, were written by Ellen Lunt, Henry's first wife, who was secretary of that organization: According to appointment by Bishop Henry Lunt, the sisters of Cedar City met in the Social Hall for the purpose of being organized into a Female Relief Society. The Bishop presided over the meeting assisted by his counselors, Brothers Samuel Leigh and C. J. Arthw. The Bishop rnade some very appropnate remarks during which he said if the sisters were willing, he would appoint a Presidentess. He then moved, which was seconded and canied unanimously, that Sister Rachel Whittaker [EUen's mother] act as President of the Society. He then told her to choose two counselors. She said she would rather he chose them. He then moved that Sister Annabella Haight be First Counselor and Sister Mary Higbee, the Second. He also moved that Sister EUen Lunt [his first wife] act as Secretary and Sister Alice Bennett as Treasurer of said Society. Canied unanimously. The Bishop gave some good instmctions to the sisters. He said he would have rye down the corning fall so that they could have the straw for the making of hats. He also recommended the cultivation of silk and the silkworm and wished them to make a rag carpet for the aisle of the Meeting House by the time President Young carne this fall. He instmcted the sisters to see to the wants and necessitieS of the poor. Signed: EUen Lunt, Sec. The Relief Society sisters met on July 1, 1868; in the Social Hall. AgairS Bishop Lunt presided.
