wagons for the conveniente of their scanty provisions, cooking utensils, clothing and bedding, are to be fumished with wagons by the more wealthy, or are to be le&behind and brought on by wagons which will be sent b a ~ k . ~ Henry continued to keep a joumal after he retumed home and n made the following entnes early i 1858: Jan 29, 1858:1 was appointed by the authorities of the Stake to go on a preaching mission to the settlements down south in Dixie, in company with some other brethren. We held meetings at Fort Harmony and Washington [called the Conon Farm], some 30 miles distance from Hannony. There were some 30 f a d e s at this place. The climate very warm and pleasant. Saw several of the sisters wearing cloth from the cotton raised here. The next day we went to Santa Clara, an Indian Missionary Station. By request, 1 sang several songs. The next day we returned to Harmony. in the morning when we left Washington it was so w m for ten miles that we had to ride in our shirt sleeves, but before we got over the Black Ridge we encountered a severe snow storm with a heavy north wind, and it was with difficulty that we kept from freezing. 1 was so numbed when we got to Harmony that 1 could not dismount from the mule without assistance. Reached home in Cedar City on the 3rd of Febmary where 1 stayed until 1 went to Parowan on the 13th. March 30, 1858:The mail arrived from Salt Lake City and brought a circular containing instmctions ffom President Bngharn Young to the Saints.
