Fri. Mar. 2, 1900: Ther. 46., pleasant., Wea. cloudy John Winder, Alfred F. (Ap) Stout and I went up the Big Bend and down to John’s pasture south of Clear Creek, hunting a route for a trail. Saturday 3: Ther. pleasant, Wea. cloudy pm. We searched the head of Pine creek and found the only shaw there was the left hand fork. We followed the canyon over and looked off in Zion. Sunday 4: Ther. am warm., Wea. clear., pm. cold cloudy Ap. & I came home via. Stevens wash we found it to be about as practical as the Bend which is the best route yet found.
