June 4, 1898: Ther. 7-30 am 80, Wea. clear We were up all night with Joseph he made no fuss until about 2 or 3 oclock when he began to realize his pain and made an awful fuss till he passed away. I went and got some of the Elders early in the morning. then we had prayers and anointed him and administered to him. The pain seemed to cease in a few minutes and he breathed his last just as the clock struck half past seven. the funeral was held in the evening with a large turnout. Sunday 5: Ther. 7-15; 60.
