Sat. Dec. 3, 1898: Ther. freezing. cold, Wea. bright, clear, breeze from South clouds in south same as yesterday. few clouds going east about noon. We went up Hack’s Canyon to see if we could find some (pine) shed poles they were all to big and heavy. we came back and chopped posts a half day. Sunday 4: Ther. warmer till evening. Wea. clear, then it clouded up and turned very cold. Jim came to our camp this morning early, we all went to the L.M. got the fanning mill took it to the Coop farm. Then Jim & I went to C. Creek and got water. IH. Langston and John Ruesch camped with us at farm. I caught a fox this morning.
