Business Law. This course embraces a study of the laws governing the transaction of business in the world of commerce, including a knowledge of contracts, sales, agency, partnership, corporations, business papers, liens, guaranty, insurance, real estate and personal property,
Three hours per week throughout the year.
Commercial Geography. A course in Commercial Geography will be given to those who desire to prepare for the course in Commerce in the University.
Commercial Arithmetic. The first half of the work in Commercial Arithmetic gives the student proficiency in all the phases and manipulations of fractions, weights and measures, and billing used in practical daily affairs in business life. The more advanced work gives the student familiarity with the principles of percentage, showing that all problems are comprised under three heads, The applications of percentage are made clear, and it is made plain to the student how in each subdivision complex problems are built up from simple principles.
Rapid Calculation. The work in Rapid Calculation makes the student able to add and multiply as rapidly as he can read figures, and to solve problems in interest, discount, bills and prices with rapidity, accuracy and ease. He learns from experience that "Lightning Calculation" is the result of effort and practice.
Penmanship. The student is trained in a round, smooth, plain style of Muscular Movement, writing. Speed, legibility and ease are the principles upon which the work is based. A standard equivalent to that required for an "American Penman" certificate is required for completing the course.
Spelling. Gives drill in words used in commercial life, and in words in common use in the usual vocations.
