Four hours per week throughout the year. Miss Decker.
Oral Expression. The purpose of this course is to develop intelligent readers. The underlying principles of voice-building-pronunciation, articulation, enunciation, and resonance are dwelt on. Much practice is given to the oral interpretation of such pieces of literature as will supplement the other courses in English.
Three hours per week throughout the year. Miss Brown.
Elocution I. This course is intended to develop greater freedom in daily self expression and to give the student ability to interpret the printed page by constant practice and criticism. The most fundamental principles of criticism will be discussed as an aid to the teaching of reading in the public schools. Public recitals are required.

Elocution II. This course is limited to those who in Elocution I show marked ability. The aim is to develop a wider appreciation of literature and a greater power for interpretation. Each student is required to give one public recital.
