short distance from the great coal beds in Southern Utah. In its vicinity are the great ore bodies of hematite and magnetic iron ore. These vast bodies of coal and iron ore, the most useful and important minerals mined, will necessarily in the near future make Cedar City one of the most populous and prosperous cities in the southern portion of the state. 
SITE AND BUILDING. 
 
 
    The new building is situated on Normal School Hill, near the outskirts of the city. Fifteen acres of land is to be deeded to the State for school grounds. The building is commodious and well lighted, and is provided with the best system of heating and of ventilation. 
LABORATORIES AND APPARATUS. 
 
 
    Rooms are provided in the new building for physical and biological laboratories and manual training workshops. These will be well equipped with apparatus, tools, and material necessary for the successful completion of the work offered in those departments. 
PHYSICAL EDUCATION. 
 
 
    All needful provision has been made for the proper development of the body. The students have the advantage of a variety of apparatus. Through the efforts of the Athletic Association, appliances for out-door exercises, foot ball, base ball, basket ball, and croquet have been provided. 
LIBRARY AND READING ROOM. 
 
 
    The library is furnished with collections of standard works in literature, history, pedagogy, and science, besides miscellaneous
