17 STATE NORMAL SCHOOL.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION.-Exercises in the gymnasium under the supervision of the director. Physical examinations are given as far as practicable, and the work will be adapted to the needs of the the individual.
The regulation suits are recommended. These are, for men, "sweater" and soft soled shoes; for women, divided skirts, loose waist, and soft soled shoes.
VOCAL MUSIC: ELEMENTRY.-This course includes instruction
in reading vocal music, methods of teaching vocal music, elementary
principals of voice culture, harmony, part singing, etc
Required of all first year Normal students.
2 recitations per week.-Miss Spencer. .
GENERAL HISTORY.-Meyer's General History will be used as a text-book, supplemented by lectures and class discussion.
SUBJECTS NOT OFFERED.-Physics and Manual Training of the third year and all of the subjects of the fourth year will not be offered this year.
Students going from the Branch Normal to the University at Salt Lake City to finish their course will receive credit for all the subjects that they have already completed.
The Preparatory Course.
As there are in the more remote settlements many young men and women who have not had the advantages of a complete common school education, it is designed to offer for students over eighteen years of age special instruction in the subjects required for entrance.
