31 STATE NORMAL SCHOOL.
Three Year Violin Course. First Year-David's School Book I will be used, Supplemented by Henning and Sitt. Easy pieces.
Second Year-David's School Book II or equivalent. Elementary harmony. Easy solos and duets. Orchestra practice.
Piano first half year.
Third Year-Will complete David's School or equivalent. Advanced harmony. Second half year piano. Studies from Sitt, Kayser and others. Solos and orchestra.
Two Year Organ Course. Will parallel first two years of Piano course, usingcarefully selected pieces suitable for the reed organ.
Three Year Voice Culture and Singing. This is necessarily a private course and is intended to give thorough training in the art of singing. Special attention will be given to individual voices, with exercises and studies carefully selected to suit the needs of individual voices. The course will be based on the Italian method of making and placing the voice.
One year of harmony and two years of piano will be required.
PHYSICAL SCIENCE.
MR. FOSTER.
Elementary Physics. This subject is given in the third year. Object: The object of the course is to give the students a general survey of the field of Physics, including a study of Mechanics, Heat, Electricity and magnetism, Sound and Light.
Text: The text used is Millikan and Gale's First Course in Physics. The laboratory manual used is Millikan and Gale's. References: Hopkins' Experimental Science, Deschanel Natural Pilosophy, Barnes' Practical Accoustics, Edser Heat for Advanced Students. Daniell Text Book of Principles of Physics, Thompson Magnetism and Electricity; also Light by the same author.
