29 STATE NORMAL SCHOOL.
American History and Civics. A thoro elementary course in national history, preceded by a review of the periods of exploration and colonization. The work in civics is introduced in connection with the study of national development and includes a somewhat thoro treatment of the following topics: History of the town meetings; parishes, townships, and counties in colonial times; governments of the colonies; Articles of Confederation; state governments; origin and growth of the Constitution; government of cities; the origin and growth of political parties; territorial acquisitions. Particular attention will be paid to town and county governments in Utah.
Three hours per week, throughout the year.
English History. This course will be a careful study of the growth of English institutions from the Conquest, preceded by a hurried survey of Anglo-Saxon and Roman times.
European History. This course will cover the period from the commencement of the crusades to the First Hague Conference.

Vocal Music. Instruction in the vocal music class will consist in reading the Scale, Sight-Reading to enable the student to read at sight any of the simpler musical compositions, writing from sound, Choral work, Choir singing and Church music.
Two hours per week.
Musical Theory, Harmony and Composition. This course will consist of practical application of the principles of harmony as applied in actual composition; theory of music, musical form and expression; practice in composition, criticism of original work, vocal and instrumental.
