              31 				STATE NORMAL SCHOOL. 
 
Physical Education.-Exercises in the gymnasium under the supervision of the director. Physical examinations are given as far as practicable, and the work will be adapted to the needs of the individual. 
The regulation suits are recommended. These are, for men," sweater" and soft soled shoes; for women, divided skirts, loose waist, and soft soled shoes. 
Manual Training (a).-This course consists of the theory and practice of educational manual training, to prepare teachers for giving regular class work in paper folding, cutting and mounting; clay and cardboard modeling, and wood and metal sloyd, including turning and carving. The work will be especially directed to the cultivation of a liking and respect for manual labor; to the acquiring of habits of order, exactness, cleanliness, and economy; and to the development of the creative instinct, and the training of the eye and hand. 
4 hours per week (2 hours credit) throughout the year. 
 
 
CREDIT. 
Students going from the Branch Normal to the University at Salt Lake City to finish their course will receive credit for all the subjects they have already completed. 
 
 
The Preparatory Course. 
As there are in the more remote settlements many young men and women who have not had the advantages of a complete common school education, it is designed to offer to students over eighteen years of age special instruction in the subjects required for entrance. 
 
REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION. 
Students will be admitted to the Preparatory Course on examination or on giving evidence of ability to do the work required.
