Required of third-year Normal students. 4 hours per week throughout the year. United States' History and Civics.-This is a thorough high-school course in the history and government of our country. Required of all first-year Normal students. 3 hours per week throughout the year. General History.-Based on Sheldon's text-book and references to leading authorities and historial sources. Required of third-year Normal students. 3 hours per week throughout the year. History of Education.-This course deals with the development of educational theory and practice, from beginning of modern times to the present. 2 hours per week, first half-year. Educational Psychology.-A discussion of mind phenomena in general with constant application of the laws of mind to moral and intellectual development. Drawing A.-The aim of this course is to teach the elementary principles of drawing and coloring with view to preparing students for the expression work which may be required of them in various other branches of study. Primarily it is sought to cultivate the aesthetic instinct and develop the powers of observation. The course consists of color design, drawing and painting from objects and models; life drawing, and open-air sketching, with colored crayon, water color, pencil, and pen and inks. 4 hours per week (2 hours credit). Reading A.-The object of this course is to give a practical and scientific basis for reading. Practice and theory of reading; voice building, phonetic spelling, pronounciation and emphasis will be given. Required of first-year Normal students. Vocal Music: Elementary.-This course includes instruction in reading vocal music, methods, of teaching vocal music, elementary principles of voice culture, harmony, part singing, etc. Required of first year Normal students. 2 recitations per week. The four years' course shows classes taught and the number of recitations per week for each. Subjects of instruction gives an overview of what is covered in each course. Credit tells of transferability to the University at Salt Lake City. The preparatory course section shows requirements for admission and the courses taught. Contributions to the school includes donors and their donations. The list of students gives student names with city and county and a summary total number of students. |
