a meeting of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, then continued on to Mexico City, and to six countries in Central America. This was while Steve was on his mission there, and they were able to visit him in Honduras. Orpha recalls, "Dr. George R. Hill, General Superintendent of the Sunday School, asked John (a member of the Sunday School General Board) to take along a film to show whenever appropriate. The sound track was in English, of course. When we told Steve about it, he rounded up missionaries and members who stayed up most of the night making a recording in Spanish to accompany the film. It was used in Honduras, Guatemala and Panama." In December 1964, John, Orpha and Paul visited Carmen and John in Boston at Christmastime, then continued on to Puerto Rico to attend a meeting of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and returned home via Miami and New Orleans. After completing a Sunday School assignment in North Carolina, fohn and Orpha met John and Carmen in Washington, D.C. and enjoyed seeing the sights along the eastern seaboard, spending several gorgeous fall days in New England before returning home. In January, 1966, John and Orpha were able to travel together to hold Sunday School conventions in the South Pacific that took them to Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, New Zealand and Australia, where they enjoyed visiting with President and Sister Richard S. Tanner, members of the ward presiding over the Australian Mission. In April, 1966, Orpha and John, with Steve and Pat, visited San Jose, Costa Rica, in connection with meetings of the Inter-American Bar Association. The four of them were invited to a reception given by the Vice President of Costa Iiica, in an elaborate government building. As they went down the receiving line, Orpha caught her heel on an oriental rug, and she stumbled into the arms of the vice president. When she remarked, "I'll sue you," he almost believed her! In December, 1968 to Febmary, 1969, Orpha and John took a trip via Anchorage, Alaska and Japan, to meet Paul, who had completed his mission in the Philippines. Before meeting Paul, John and Orpha were escorted about Tokyo by Sen Nishiyama, a former scout leader in Salt Lake City, who was by this time one of the foremost JapaneseEnglish linguists in the country.
