Three Score and Ten in Retrospect painful process for both her and those of us who watched her deteriorate, yet a great lesson was there to be learned. Here was Mom, the capable and loving woman who had taken care of us all, now totally dependent on others. Remember, we all need each other. Nothing has brought me more joy than observing the harmony which has and now exists in our family. This includes our newest children - Marge, Pat, John and Ann. I pray that you will always have this feeling of love and helpfulness toward each other. Love, Mother The Children Grow Up
Missions were completed by John Jr., who returned from the East Central States Mission in December, 1959; Steve, who returned from the Central American Mission in January of 1963; and by Paul, who returned from the Philippine Mission in January of 1969. As soon as the boys arrived home, they returned to their studies. John received his B.S. in 1964, his J.D. in 1966, and his M.D. in 1967. Steve received his B.A. in 1965, and his J.D. in 1967. Carmen received her B.A. in 1965 (she later received her M S . in 1983). Paul received his B.S. in 1973 and J.D. in 1976. All the degrees were awarded by the University of Utah. The year 1964 was a big one for marriage in the Boyden family. Orpha states: "It was the Summer of '64. Paul had just completed his junior year at East High School. His sister and two older brothers were planning to be married right away. Paul described it this way: We're knee deep in love and affection around here!' "The reason for the mass marriage approach was that all the participants were in school. John Jr. was finishing his first year in medical school; Margery Sabine was graduating from BW; Steve was finishing his senior year at the University of Utah and Patricia Shumway was graduating from the University of Utah; John Pingree was
