Concerning the trip to the Cranberry bogs, Paul recollects: "Ocean Spray maintained a visitors' area to entertain tourists at the cranberry bogs. Part of the fun was a miniature train which went around the premises (known as 'Edaville'). Beside the track was a sign indicating that every time the train passed a certain spot the engineer would sound two toots for the founder of Edaville. This struck Dad as being so funny that another phrase was added to the store of family phrases. Many an accomplishment was saluted with 'Two toots for the founder of Edaville.' Tuesday, July 2 r d : 'We had a wonderful day on the beach at Cape Cod. We reserved our rooms for another night, so we enjoyed the nice warm sand on the beach all day. The water was cold, at first, but we got used to it and enjoyed swimming now and then. We had a lovely dinner, then went to bed early so we can get an early start. Tomorrow we begin our trip home, via Washington, D.C. We've had a wonderful time and are grateful for the trip. We have loved New England." (The family well remembers the effects of the sun that day. Despite the cloud cover throughout the day, everyone except Paul was red as a lobster by nightfall.) Wednesday and Thursday, July 24 and 25: "We are en route to Washington, D.C., through New Bedford (whaling), parts of Connecticut and Rhode Island, New York, and stayed at Trenton, New Jersey, after having crossed the Washington Bridge. The next day we went on through Delaware and Maryland, and finally into Washington, D.C. We picked up mail at the office (Wilkinson, Boyden, Cragun & Barker) then checked in at the Marriott Hotel - what a wonderful contrast to some accommodations we have had! In the evening we saw the Lincoln Memorial - what a thrilling experience." Friday, July 26th: "We got off to the Capitol early, walked around the rotunda, then met Verda (Barnes, my friend of many years from Idaho - she is Sen.
