I am not sure how the name "Booty Shood" originated. I do know that when I was old enough to begin to pretend, I would sit with an open book or paper pretending to read - repeating monotonously 'kshoodna and ashoodna and ashoodna." This had some connection. Where the rest of the name came from I will have to speculate with you. Dad had pet names for all his children and many of the neighborhood kids. My brother, Walter Everett, was called "wah-wah-taysee" taken from Longfellow's Hiawatha meaning "littlefirefly. "He affectionately referred to my sister Winifred Maxine as 'little Tucky." Her friends readily adopted an abbreviated form and for many years students and teachers referred to her as "Tucks." Mother found great pleasure in carefully adjusting my curly hair. It took her some time to discover that after she had artistically arranged a bow of ribbon getting me ready for Everett to walk me to town, he would remove the ribbon and put it in his pocket as soon as we were out of sight.
