Three Score and Ten in Retrospect
for they die as to things pertaining to things of righteousness; for they are unclean, and no unclean thing can inherit the kingdom of God; but they are cast out, and consigned to partake of the fruits of their labors or their works, which have been evil, and they drink the dregs of a bitter cup." I'm very grateful for the revelation, I am glad that we know it, glad that the angel told Alma that, and that the great book, the Book of Mormon, has come forth and we have this doctrine, this sure knowledge. I'm very happy to hear the good things said about John. My bishop is John's son, and he's a good man; he takes care of us old folks that haven't much time left, and encourages us to try to stay faithful to the end of our lives. And I hope that all of John's and Orpha's posterity will try to follow the counsel and teachings of their father and grandfather, that they may gain these great blessings. I don't need to preach to you people - you're all good Latter-day Saints, 1 take it, and I pray that we may so live that when we go we can be spoken of as John has been spoken of here in these lovely services, and I leave my blessing with you all, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Benediction; Stephen G. Boydeu
Ow Father in Heaven, we humbly thank Thee for the blessings which we receive from Thee and for the messages we have heard this day. We thank Thee for those who have spoken to us or have sung to us and otherwise participated in the program. We are thankful for all those people who have shown their generosity and kindness and hospitality over the past months during Dad's illness. We're thankful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ and for the importance it has in the lives of all of us. And we're grateful that Dad had adherence to its principles with his great faith and his ability to serve others, and his adherence for that which is right and true, and his integrity; we are grateful also for the great love which he displayed in behalf of not only his family but all those who were about him.
