Talk: President Marion G. Romney Brothers and Sisters, I'm honored to be invited to say a word here at the close of these lovely services. This has been a unique, unusual occasion, very interesting and informative. I first met John in college; John and Stuart McMaster and I were in the same law school class at the University of Utah. We graduated - those who did graduate, 1 didn't - in 1929. With John and Stuart McMaster I had my first experience in the practice of law in the office of Delbert M. Draper. It was there where I first met John's wife before she was his wife. She used to come down there - I don't know whether John brought her or she came after John. But she was frequently in the office and I learned to think highly of her then as 1 did of John. Presently, John S. Boyden, Jr. is my bishop so he's the reason I'm here today, I think, a very fine man following in his father's footsteps. John has gone from us. I've been delighted with what's been said about him. I didn't practice law very long. I've been out of it for about forty years, nearly as long as John practiced. I've attended many funerals and I'm always interested in where the deceased has gone. 1 think I know where John's gone, and I think he knew where he was going. The late Senator Dirksen had this to say about where John's gone. Shortly before his death he responded impressively to Job's great question, "If a man die, shall he live again?" And this is what Dirksen had to say: "What mortal being standing on the threshold of infinity has not pondered what lies beyond the veil which separates the seen from the unseen? What mortal being responding to the mystical instinct that earthly dissolution is at hand, has not contemplated what lies beyond the grave? What mortal being upon whom has descended that strange and
