Indian Affairs. Mrs. Boyden, a graduate of USU and a former member of the USU Board of Trustees, has been active in support of the University. In Sickness and in Health Although John had an operation for a hernia in January, 1972, his health was excellent until his last series of illnesses. He continued to maintain a busy schedule as long as he was physically able to do so. The move to the tenth floor suite offices in the Kemecott Building came in 1972. The new firm opened under the name of "Boyden & Kennedy ." Steve remembers: Dad, John Jr. and I along with John Kennedy had a good time planning all the details of the new firm. Ron White, Disneyland architect and Dad's longtime friend, planned the office space. He recommended that it be done in a first class style. Following his advice, we imported teak wood and had a finish carpenter install it. More teak was taken to Utefab on the Ute Indian Reservation. and they constructed the desks which had been designed by Jimmie Jones who was also an architect and a client of ours. The teak walls and furniture gave us all an air of dignity to which we would not otherwise have been entitled - other than Dad. It was always a source of pride to Dad to have the comer office overlooking the Church gardens where he could direct the spring planting from his tenth floor window! When Paul graduated from law school, he came into the firm so that Dad and all three of his sons were working in the same firm, a very fun arrangement for all of us. Paul cut his prosecutorial teeth on the Ute Indian criminal cases in tribal court. O n May 23, 1973, the Merit of Honor Award was given to John at a banquet in the University's Student Union Building, by the Emeritus Organization of the University of Utah Alumni Association. On January 8, 1977, in preparation for attendance at the Inaugural Ball in honor of newly-elected Governor Scott M. Matheson, John
