But a boy of just your size Knows it may hoot at just a stranger." O n the occasion of their fortieth wedding anniversary, John and Orpha's family gathered for a celebration. O n this day, May 17, 1976, John wrote to Orpha: Forty years from here to there; Forty years and we still care. First it's four and then it's seven. Blessed are we direct from heaven. Years roll on, the seven's eight; T o be so blessed is more than fate. A stratum now of seventeen Over which, my dear, you are the queen. From one to one let it be known T i s God's great gift to share your throne. Because words fail you may suppose I send my love with a red rose.
